The Training Center's case managers help participants overcome individual barriers and provide on-going motivation and support to ensure everyone who takes classes graduates. “Students gain the skills needed to be of utmost service to their communities as healthcare professionals. Together, we're helping produce a qualified and competent workforce to improve services to seniors and people with disabilities." “Improving Communities through Quality Care”

Job Searching in 3 steps

  1. Finding An Open Position:
There are many places where you can find job listings:
    • The job registry at the Training Center/Local 6434
    • Internet (If you do not have internet access at home, visit your local library or the Training Center).
  2. Applying:
    Resume
A resume is a list of your educational and professional experience. The resume lets the employer know who you are. Make sure to include your personal information, including name, address, and phone number. Include your work experience, starting with the most recent first. Do not forget to include duties, dates of employment, and location.
    Cover Letter
Include a cover letter when sending a resume to an employer. The cover letter introduces you to the employer. Some examples of the information you can include in the letter are:
    • How you found out about the job opening
    • An explanation of your resume
    • An explanation of any special training that you have completed (including languages you speak)
  3. Interviewing:
The interview gives you a chance to make a good impression on the employer. Prepare yourself for an interview by doing the following:
    • Find information about the company and the position
    • Dress professionally.
    • Show good manners.
    • Be prepared to answer questions including:
      • a) Why should we hire you?
        b) What is your greatest strength or greatest weakness?
        c) Describe a problem you faced recently and how you dealt with it.
    • Ask the employer questions, for example:
      • a) What qualities are you looking for in a candidate?
        b) What are the duties of the job?
        c) When should I expect to hear from you?
